Prison Pizza??!
What's up everyone?!
The other day I hit my one month mark of being a missionary! It is weird to think how fast it went by but it also feels like I've been here for a while now. But now I have 23 months to go.
This week was a pretty slow week. Last Sunday everyone was all quarantined together but on Monday me and Elder Ili woke up and felt fine so we got the clear to go back to work. We were the only ones who were able to leave our apartmemts and do the work because all the other missionaries tested positive for covid. So we had to do everyone else's job which was fine because it gave us things to do. We taught lots of lessons and are getting people pretty close to progressing towards baptism which is great!
The ward here is super small, especially compared to Utah. There is a lotttttt of inactive people and the active members are never around becuase of work. The only people that showed up to church were about 6 elderly couples and the missionaries. We also sing hyms that I didnt know existed and apparently no one else did becuase it was just the organ playing and lots of mumbling noises so it was funny. You're probably wondering why my email is titled the way it is. Well I'll get into that.
We had a member dinner with a family and it was very memorable to say the least. This guy made us prison pizza for our meal. He said he's been to prison 4 times and shared some crazy stories. It was very wild. But if you're wondering the pizza was not very good and it was more like Ramen with weird toppings. But definitely one of the wildest dinners that I have had so far and that's saying something. The member dinners are always an interesting experience and something that I look forward too. I bet most of my stories will be from member dinners haha.
Well I don't have much more to share so I'll leave with my testimony this week. I've been thinking a lot about trials. Seeing a lot of people in hard places and hearing their stories is so sad. We physically can not make it through this life alone. I think some trials we are given we can't handle them by ourselves. But this is why we have the savior. We can always rely on him and have him help us.
Stay cute everyone, - Elder Jenkins
