My 600lb Life

¡Hola mí amigos!

Ah man general conference was just great wasn't it? So inspiring and uplifting it really just makes me feel so much better and wanting to do better. If you haven't had the chance to watch it there's plenty of opportunities for you to listen to it or watch it throughout the week (no excuses hahaha) but seriously it was exactly what I needed to hear. I hope those that listened or watched felt the love of our savior and the need and determination to pick up our "crosses" and follow him.

This week was really good! I had my first missionary exchange this week. A missionary exchange just means I swap companions with someone else's companion for 24 hours. It went really well. I've been eating a tonnnnn of food. Its funny theres a lot of Hooters and twin peaks here which is like hooters but worse apparently, but the members and missionaries here call those places babylon. Thought I'd throw that in there. This week alone I gained 8 pounds of weight. Its easy to do when everything is free. I really gotta chill out before it gets out of control, but im working out so I'm gonna just get absolutely large in stature like Nephi or the strippling warriors hahaha. But the people we are teaching are continuing to surprise me everyday and it's amazing to watch the people I am teaching grow up and strengthen their testimonies. We are so pleased again with Joseph. That guy and his family does not miss! We tell him to do something and he does it and tells us how good it makes him feel and the revelation he gets. It just fills my heart with joy. We've been finding new people like crazy and it's just been a complete blast.

I feel bad becuase last week's email was poor by my standards. I must have been tired or just not feeling it, but I left out some cool things that happened so I guess I'll share them now. Last week me and my comp were studying in the morning and we get a loud pounding on our door. We were taken away at first but opened it, and there stood a guy who was all cut up and bleeding and just in clear emotional distress. He was frantically pacing back and forth and was asking for a blessing. I got the opportunity to bless this man and help him calm down. But it was so awesome. He was in need of a lot of help due to some personal reasons and im glad i could. On the flip side, on exchanges some guy was talking to us as we stopped in the gas station to buy a drink. He was telling us his wife and him used to be members and since have left the church. Mid convo, he walks to the back, grabs a beer, slips it in his pants and walks out the store. I'm not a snitch but I wanted to share that there are a lot of crimes that go on down here. Plus it took us by surprise cuz we were having a really spiritual convo. But stealing beer is cool too I guess.

I have plenty of funny or other stories so feel free to reach out if you want to hear more, but I'll spare all the details becuase I don't want to be releasing weekly newspapers of information. This week I have been thinking a lot about families and our roles in the family of God. We must remember that we are all children of the same God and we are all brothers and sisters. People may judge us or treat us unfairly or as though we are less than them. They may talk badly about us to others or to us, and maybe at times make us feel hurt or worthless. I try to remind myself that nobody is perfect and I try to give them the benefit of the doubt. They may have burdens that cause them to act that way. It's not an excuse for their actions but it's life. I urge all those who are reading to be more mindful of other people's struggles and to love as Jesus and Heavenly Father love. Forgive and help in loving ways to remind others to do the same. We have to unite with our brothers and sisters to help support each other for the same goal of returning to our maker. I want each of you to do an act of service for someone this week, it doesn't have to be anything big, and report on it! As you serve others, encourage them to do the same. It will bless in ways you didn't know were possible! I promise that. Anyways thats all from me.

¡Adiós! -Elder Jenkins.
