Happy New Year!!!
Yo whats up yall.
Hey sorry for the late post, but hope yall had a great new year and celebrated as hard as we did! The elders got together again for another sleepover! We had poppers and glasses and sparkling cider and all sorts of fun games and snacks and music and stuff to do. We stayed up til 2am just messing around and having a good time. It felt like college a little bit. But this week was a lot better than last week which is super good. I also had some wack experiences this week as well.
Alright let's not waste any time. My wack story: so we were calling members one night trying to have them give us rides and come to our lessons. We called a couple people and no one was able to. We then called a recently returning member that we've been working with for a few months now because he expressed his desire to come on splits with us so we felt he'd be a good on the fly call. When we called him he was rambling off on something which is typical for Texans. But this time it was a little different and the vibe was off. He then just starts crying bloody murder and wailing and making all kinds of noise, talking bout how he's seen demons in his house and how he can't get them out of his head. I was very patient with him and slowly calmed him down. I asked if he wanted to pray and in a weird tone of voice he said: "No I don't. I hate praying. I don't want to pray ever again." And started talking normal again after that. It became apparent that there was something influencing him to act this way. After an hour long phone call and lots of prayers, we finally got him calmed down and promised to meet with him the following day to bless his home and cast out the demons if we needed to. We scheduled to meet at 8pm. Well the next day was a little slow so we went to his place at around 6pm because we were worried about him. He lives on the second floor, and his window was open and he was blasting music which he never does. We knocked super loud like 6 times and he didn't answer. We called him 3 or 4 times and he didn't answer. Then we yelled his name through the window and got nothing. We carried about our day and decided to come back at 8pm and bring more elders. When we came back with backup, we prayed before walking up to his apartment and prepared ourselves. We still heard the music, and all of us had this weird feeling. We banged on the door and he still didn't answer. We called and still no answer. Finally I opened his door and stuck my head in (I was worried he might have taken his life at this point) and a wave of the spirit leaving hit all 4 of us. At that point we knocked his neighbors doors and no one answered. We prayed again and felt it would be necessary to call the cops to do a wellness check. When the cops came they asked a bunch of questions and knocked on his door, and he answered straight away. Super sus. But he seemed super off and like he wasn't fully there. We're definitely going to have to go back, but thats the end of it so far. Good to know he was still alive
Apart from that crazy experience, I also popped another tire so that was fun. Good thing I knew how to fix it pretty quick and have some spares now. The stupid goat heads in the grass here just ruin everything. Apart from my bike breaking, I'm getting better at biking and I'm running laps around my companion. He used to push me around and go super fast but now the roles have switched and I'm outworking him and having to slow down to catch up to him. We've been pretty productive and hitting about 4 lessons a day so we get pretty tired at the end of it. I also might be leaving my area this transfer so I won't attach my address to this email, but im enjoying my time with the people I love for my last few weeks before I never see some of them again or at least for a while. But this area has been super super fun and I love the people I'm serving and the people I'm serving around.
Today was super fun also! We went to cynergy and did a bunch of games and VR things and also Lazer tag and Skywalks and just a bunch of things. That was a blast and it's been a while since I've done something like that. We also set the record for fastest time in the escape room so now address me as room master or something, I don't know lol. But we have a member who's son works there and we could do all that for free. Then we played some Frisbee and spike ball and volleyball and just had a good time. I put on a little karaoke singing thing or whatever and totally out sung everyone. But it was just an overall good experience.
Anyways yall that's really all I got. Again sorry for sending this late, but as you can see I'm not dead. I'm loving it out here so much and finding so much joy in hard work. This week my spirits were a lot better. I'm also getting super comfortable around the members and missionaries and I'm just a goof ball around the members and they love it so much for some reason. We've gotten a lot of dinner sign ups now because they request that the "fun" missionary comes over and entertains their children or even the parents. I think I'm going to start charging for my services. But anyways hope yall have a great day and week and I love you all!
