What Can I Do To Feel The Spirit Better?

Hey!

This week was another very productive week but again not much has happened at the same time. Being in plainview definitely has its pros and cons but luckily more pros. The people here have been incredibly nice and have restored my faith in humanity, it's good to see people be so kind compared to what you would see if you were to compare it with what you see on TV or in the world. It just goes to show that if you feed yourself negative energy then you're going to constantly think negatively causing you to be changed by it and maybe belive it or act on it. But it's good to be serving people. It is so true that charity is the pure love of Christ. I've always loved serving people and giving more than I take and being a missionary is luckily all I'm allowed to do so it's a good time! It makes you feel so good.

This week we were doing the usual food bank service, one of the days we help we have to go buy carts full of stuff. Our order was a lot bigger this time around and we got a couple carts overflowing with groceries. It always brings me joy to see people stare at us like we're insane, or assume that we work there and are restocking. We get asked all kinds of questions, and people always die a little inside when they realize our bill is going to be insane, especially when it comes to buying the eggs. But while we were cramming cart fulls of groceries into this little mission SUV, this sweet lady came up and just thanked us for what we do and insisted that she gives us $20. It was a nice little moment and I wish I could have talked to her longer and share more about what we do and how she could use that money for tithing, but I turned around for a split second and just as fast, she vanished like hoodini.

I also saw God's hand this week when Beverly was looking out for us like she always does. She gave us a whole big pie for free, gave us tons of money for food, and called a restaurant owner in a small town to cook us something special for us, because she knows everyone and has that power due to her help for the community. She's so awesome and we got rib eye steak chili riallnos! They were very good and I wouldn't mind eating meat unsparingly on that thing. But God has been good to us because Beverly has been good to us! Also our members have been taking really good care of us and thats a fun time! We also got to teach Val again. I don't remember if I wrote about her before, but she was this young girl that we found on Facebook and met with once before. We introduced her to the book of Mormon and have been helping her read it, so thats been super fun and exciting!

Yesterday was stake conference. It was a really good stake conference even though there was technical difficulties and it cut out a lot of it. But during the conference I zoned out and heard the spirit talking to me and I've been pondering about it for a while now. I've been thinking more and more how important it is to have the spirit and to be in places and a state of mind where we are able to listen to and recognize the spirit. I've been thinking about what I'm doing that might be subtracting from the spirit and its abilities, and things I need to change to feel it more abundantly in my life. It has been very eye opening to me. When the spirit talks to us its almost like the veil is thinning and God Is literally trying to speak to us, why would we not want to listen, or worse yet, not even get the message because we cant recognize it? Today in life we have so many distractions, and yes even as a missionary there's things that distract me and make me have moments where the spirit isn't there or as strong, and I feel horrible. And thats what a life without the spirit and its guidance is going to be like. Constant confusion, constant second guessing and no clear path or direction, that sounds pretty horrible to me. Are you willing to give things up in your life to be able to hear God literally talking to you? Are you willing to be seen maybe less popular or willing to change lifestyles and habits to connect more with God? Grow your testimony and nourish it. If you feel God isn't talking to you, unclog your ears, wash them out, do something. Take action to have God prevail in your life and have the spirit witness of his glory to you personally! God is trying to talk to you even if you don't hear him. So what are you going to change so you can listen?

Anyways yall that's what's been on my mind and what I've been thinking about lately, and also how my week has been! I love yall and love hearing from you all. I hope yall have a great week and I wish you luck on your spiritual journey as well!
