Alpine Twig

Good morning!

Whats good everyone? I hope yalls week was fantastic. It's been not that long since my last update due to transfers messing up the usual schedule but I like change so it's all good, but I might not have the most to report on. This week, like mentioned before, was transfers and my new companion Elder Greene is a really cool guy. We're getting along great and I know this is about to be a fun transfer. We spent this week pretty much just traveling, setting up the new apartment, and contacting people like crazy. Apparently the earth thought people in Texas taste good cuz going outside makes it feel like I'm inside of an oven, so that's been fun. I'm practically swimming to every door that I knock on, but at least people are actually inside cuz they're smart and hide from the sun. But each transfer comes with the opportunity to reset and kind of get a breath of fresh air, so my motivation is back! Its funny cuz elder Greene said "this isnt a branch, its a twig." When he saw our branch. I'm definitely learning to be more disciplined in all aspects and just getting stuff done first before I even have time to over think it or push it to the side. Matter of fact we don't have warm water at the moment so I've been teaching myself discipline by taking ice showers everymorning, that will really teach you to just do it and get it over with. But at least the water doesn't stink like the shack water and I can actually feel clean and not smell like I'm serving in Alpine. Anyways let's move on shall we?

Friday was a pretty crazy day. We had early morning transfers at 6:30, so I had to say goodbye to Elder Aden real early in the morning which was sad. I got to spend the rest of the day with all the missionaries serving in the city of Odessa. We all had a good time and we all became pretty close after that. There's some cool people in this mission lemme tell you. I got to sleep in the apartment I started my mission in and that was a super weird thing to experience. But we had to be back at the transfer site at 4:30, where I met my new companion and also saw some mission buddies. The rest of the day was spent driving. And the next day we spent unpacking and building shelves and putting together things. Sunday we did a ton of street contacting, calling, door visiting and just any form of mission work you can think of. We got to have a lesson with Steph and her boyfriend Allen as well! She is just so excited to learn about the gospel and I love teaching her because she will really pay attention and ask questions and just beg that we teach her more. We like to leave her on little cliff hangers so she craves for us to come back, and she enjoys it too becuase it motivates her to find the answers herself. She's super awesome and we're probably going to pop the question soon, and no I'm not talking about marriage. But stay posted for a baptismal announcement!

I want to kinda update on things I don't really talk much about because I just reported my whole week. Bradie Bourne (the guy Elder Judd and I put on date in plainview) got baptized on the 10th and he's doing really really well! Jazmin (the girl I baptized in plainview) moved to El paso to live with her mom, but she said she's still doing good and goes to church every now and then when she can. Naomi (the other person we put on date in plainview) is still taking lessons and still wants to be baptized so hopefully that happens soon! My health is having its ups and downs, more downs, but I know I'll be good and if I push through and work hard it will be worth it. It sucks to be in pain constantly and have headaches and migraines daily, but it's nothing I can't handle. Somedays are worse than others, but pain is temporary. I just wish I could workout because it would help me mentally and also I could've kept up with my body, but all that is unimportant right now. I'm really just focused on the work and trying to forget myself! President and sister Child gave their last mission prayer and it was a bittersweet experience. I'm going to be sad to see them go, but im happy for them. That's a little of what's been going on in the mission life for Elder Jenkins! And for the people who thought I was being hard on myself in my last email, I wasn't. I don't get myself down or beat myself up, but I keep it real with myself and I know where I need to change and grow and I know where my potential is and I know what I need to do to get/find it. I know where my strengths are too and I congratulate myself on all my small victories, but it doesn't hurt to keep yourself humble.

Anyways I love yall! Hope you have a great week.
