Testicles
Good morning!
I've never seen someone click on an email so fast! Kind of suspicious... We will circle back to the name of the email don't even worry about it. This week was an interesting one. We got sick for 2 of our busiest days of the transfer and that was depressing because we worked so hard to get lessons setup, and when we did I got sick. We also had zone conference and it was all about setting goals so it's not one to really write home about, but it was still good and uplifting. Just yesterday we had a really good lesson with Kennede. A few weeks prior I wrote how we had a good lesson with her about the truthfulness of the book of mormon and how the spirit was extremely strong. Well she said that God gave her an answer that it is true and she told us to come over cuz she had something she wanted to tell us. When we got there she said that God wants her to give our church another chance and she will be coming to church next week. I about fell over dead. To add a cherry on top she said God told her that tea and coffee was the thing that was causing her so many stomach problems and she's going to give that up too. It was incredible to hear all this and we again had another fantastic lesson with her. I truly feel that she is the reason I'm supposed to be in Hobbs.
Alright I got you curious so I'll fill you in on the absurd name for an email, especially from a missionary. On Saturday we worked 7 hours on a members cattle ranch and boy did we do some work. We branded the cows, cut their ears, castrated them, cut their horns, and gave them shots. It was actually really fun as morbid as that sounds for all my fellow animal lovers out there. I was the guy who got to castrate the bulls and clip their horns and it made me so grateful that I'm not a bull. Traditionaly cows are pushed into a chute where they can't move, and they brand them and castrate them and open the gate and let them out. We got to rope them, tackle them, and pin them and then basically torture them, because it was faster, and in their words more fun. After we were done we got to eat rocky mountain oysters, which is the cows testicles. I personally don't think they're terrible, but everyone else who we've given them to has about thrown up. I also got the worst sunburn of my entire life and wearing a collared shirt hurts so bad. I learned a lot that day and it made me more appreciative for farmers and ranchers and for the work they put in where a lot of times it goes underappreciated. Make sure you check out the pictures I linked in the bottom!
Well I guess I should probably bring the spirit back, right?! My mind has been thinking back to the hymn: "I know that my redeemer lives" a lot lately. Growing up I hated hymns and especially when I first started coming back to church I had a hard time with singing and held a pretty bad attitude about it for a long time, and found myself just reading the words or even just sitting there doing nothing. Now I really enjoy the hymns we sing in sacrament and the messages that are in them, a lot of which are directly from the scriptures. This hymn is one of my favorites. I think it's so powerful to know that Jesus Christ is still alive and working miracles. A lot of churches and people believe that he was resurrected, but it stops there, and he no longer calls people or performs marvelous miracles, but that's just not the case. In this song out of all 4 verses there is only 3 lines that don't mention how our savior lives. What an amazing reminder that he is alive and we can recieve personal direction, answers, peace, and so much more from him. I know that he lives and loves us. I know that because he lives, we can ALL live with him again someday. What joy and comfort that gives me.
Well I hope you guys have a great rest of your week. Thanks for all that you do and for all the emails, love, and responses. Keep on keeping on.
