Finding Your Own Testimony

Image
Howdy!        Another week gone by in the blink of an eye. I'm starting to think that 2 years isn't going to be long enough. While the days were fast, they were good and productive. We stayed up in lubbock for a few days, arrived on Monday and we didn't leave until Wednesday late afternoon. We had transfers on Tuesday which are always bitter sweet and exhausting. I got my new companion Elder Judd, and we crashed at some elders place and played cards and had a fun time with some of my district. The following day I gave my district council instruction, which I feel like went very well and it was fun to get to know some more people and become friends with them. I mentioned in my previous email that I was feeling a little anxious recieving my new position as the district leader, but while it's not easy, I am enjoying getting to serve missionaries and care for them and show them in ways I haven't really had the chance to before. It makes me happy to see other people happ...

The Week Everything Changed.

Howdy!        Man this week was a great week to end the transfer with. We stayed very busy and had some cool things happen. We got our transfer news on Saturday and no more being the district monkey for me sadly. I will now be a DL (district leader) and greenie breaking an elder named elder Judd. My district grew by a companionship so now I have a pretty big sized district. Also almost every companionship has changed so im going to have to re-learn a whole lot, but it will be a good opportunity for me to grow. Me and my comp elder scott also had to give talks in church and I think my talk went pretty well in my opinion, being that it was my first one as a missionary so you could say thats cool I guess. I've learned a lot from elder scott and I'm sad to see him go because our time together was very short, but he's going to do great things and the lord needs him in a different area.        This week was our busiest one this transfer. Or at least it ...

What Can I Do To Feel The Spirit Better?

Hey!       This week was another very productive week but again not much has happened at the same time. Being in plainview definitely has its pros and cons but luckily more pros. The people here have been incredibly nice and have restored my faith in humanity, it's good to see people be so kind compared to what you would see if you were to compare it with what you see on TV or in the world. It just goes to show that if you feed yourself negative energy then you're going to constantly think negatively causing you to be changed by it and maybe belive it or act on it. But it's good to be serving people. It is so true that charity is the pure love of Christ. I've always loved serving people and giving more than I take and being a missionary is luckily all I'm allowed to do so it's a good time! It makes you feel so good.      This week we were doing the usual food bank service, one of the days we help we have to go buy carts full of stuff. Our order was a l...

Howdy yall! I'm Elder Jenkins, a missionary for the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints, and I wanted to introduce myself and also share just a little bit about my testimony! Before I went by the title Elder, I had many names such as: JJ, brother, friend, son, leader, student, and many more! As missionaries we sacrifice a lot to come out and serve the Lord and his people for 18 months to 2 years. I gave up what I loved doing like riding dirtbikes, wakeboarding/surfing, shooting, making music, hanging with family and friends, being outdoors, traveling, and more. While it may be hard to not do those things, I have found joy and my purpose by serving as a missionary. Through personal experiences, I have gained a testimony that Jesus Christ is very real and aware of what we are all going through individually. One of very many experiences I will share with you now… When I was younger I used to live in Houston Texas. After many other struggles, the biggest one was yet to come. We...
